Anyone for strawberries?

Wednesday, 4 July 2018

Did you know that on average 166,055 portions of strawberries and cream are eaten at the Wimbledon tournament each year? (According to the official Wimbledon website).

With tennis season upon us, we are dreaming of that most famous Wimbledon treat. And it’s a well-known fact that strawberries taste better when you’ve picked your own. Which is exactly what you can do at Manor Farm Fruits.

We are proud to work with and support Manor Farm Fruits, who have developed their family farm into a fantastic local attraction, hosting ‘Pick-Your-Own’ strawberries (as well as other fruits) during the summer months.

Manor Farm Fruits is a great example of farm diversification in action. Whilst maintaining their core business of supplying fruits to a variety of restaurants, hotels, farm shops, wholesalers and caterers, they have developed extremely popular ‘Pick-Your-Own’ fields and a lovely on-site cafe serving freshly-prepared meals to visitors.

With a total of 55 acres of soft fruit, the farm has 12 acres of strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, redcurrants and blackcurrants, and blackberries designated specifically for ’Pick-Your-Own’. Having planted their very first strawberry plants back in 1972, the Clarke family are one of the longest established fruit growers in the area, and are celebrating their 46th ‘Pick-Your-Own’ season this year, welcoming back many visitors who come back every strawberry season.

Don’t forget the cream

We’re also proud to support many dairies throughout the country, who produce the delicious cream to go with those delightful strawberries.
